Keeping guests comfortable at a Beach Wedding

  • Posted on September 9, 2011 at 9:12 am

There are many fun items to hand out to guests for the hotter month weddings.

Give out small sunscreen samples,   fill coolers, preferably white, with bottles of water, iced tea or even lemonade is a nice touch.  How about paper parasols for the ladies to provide some shade and they come in wonderful colors.  Try Hobby Lobby or Oriental Trading Co. which both do carry.  Then you can add personal touches to them that blend with your theme.  Hot glue small  flowers to edges or give mini pom pom trim or paint on them, maybe  your initial.  Let your imagination soar.  Also oriental fans,  can be personalized as well.  www.OrientalTradingCompany.com   Another idea,  straw hats which can be passed out to the men if you are doing fans or parasols for the ladies.

If you are  inviting children, misting bottles, usually they come with fans,  just  fill with cold water.  It’s fun and will keep them cool and occupied.  Make sure not to forget batteries.

Use Nature for Ring Bearer Pillows

  • Posted on September 7, 2011 at 12:44 pm

If thinking about a beach or maybe a park type setting for your wedding,  think outside the box and create something different for a ring bearer pillow that would stand out more than the normal PILLOW.  Maybe something GREEN.

#1 How about using a shell?  There are many to pick from,  like a conch shell, abalone, scallop, nautilus or maybe a tulip shell.  Just fill them up with sand & put your rings (maybe faux rings depending on age of child)  in the sand.

#2.  How about a birds nest?   There are many sites that carry natural fiber nests.  Tie a ribbon through middle, up from bottom to add touch or just add few small miniature eggs with rings on top.  Use your imagination until it is what you like.   www.christmascentral.com  has a sugared fruit  natural fiber nest  $6.99, and you can also find miniature ones to use as table favors adding candy coated almonds as eggs.  See Item #6078 by Wedding Star.

#3.  Any coconut lovers? Cut a coconut sideways giving it a lengthier appearance,  (don’t forget to cut out the coconut, eat or bake with it)  then fill with sand.   You could also think of extending the theme into your reception with Coconut Macaroons set out on guests tables for a sweet treat.

Bridesmaid gift

Everyone is always looking for new and unique bridesmaid gifts.   This is something one of my past brides gave.   Build your own sterling silver Charm bracelets.  Just go to www.EvesAddiction.com there is a click to personalize, then pick charms and drag to bracelet.

You can do a beach theme with starfish, shells, dolphins etc. or maybe a hobby theme that represents each person in your  party.   Then if they choose to do so, they can also add more charms later.  Also available on this site is the  Orina charms & beads which are similar to , the Pandora line, just a bit more reasonable.

Also Michael’s carries lots of charms and do it yourself bracelets, necklaces etc. & if you haven’t signed up yet do so and  get 40% off coupons.  Thats a good thing!

What do the men get?

We know at weddings it’s the ladies that enjoy the evening more than our guys, who normally are persuaded  to attend by their lovely companion.  So maybe think about  setting up a mens’ table with specialties that men enjoy.  For example you could do a cigar bar with cognac.  Set some cocktail rounds and ashtrays out side on a nearby terrace and let them enjoy as well.

Try www.Victorycigars.com (wedding cigars with personalized labling) or up a notch and add a cigar roller,  www.cigarrollers.info; there is a listing of cities around the US that they service.

Another idea,  set up  a Jerky table with a variety of selections from ostrich, turkey, deer and  beef, etc.

Try www.thebeefjerkystore.com, www.jhbuffalomeat.com, www.jaysjerky.com (has venison)  and www.jerky.com (has all varieties).
